The annual Gonzaga University School of Law Red Mass for the Legal Profession will be held Tuesday, September 16 at 5:30 p.m.

Location: University Chapel, College Hall
Celebrant: Most Reverend Blase J. Cupich

The 2014 Distinguished Legal Service Award will be presented at the conclusion of the liturgy to Thomas W Hillier, II (’73), who recently retired as the Seattle Federal Defender.

Reception to follow at Cataldo Hall, 502 E. Boone Ave.
6:30 – 8:00 p.m.

The 2014-2015 Washington Judges Foundation Lawless Memorial Scholarship will be awarded at the reception.

Originally held in 1310, Red Mass marked the beginning of the Michaelmas (fall term) of the King’s Bench during the reign of Edward of England. It was an occasion of pageantry and solemnity as judges, barristers and members of Parliament gathered to invoke God’s blessing and guidance for themselves and their profession.
