Borrowing Materials from Other Libraries

Interlibrary Loan Service

You may request an Interlibrary Loan (ILL) for material not owned by Chastek Library and not accessible through the Foley Center Library or our online resources. Before submitting a request, confirm that it is not available locally by searching Chester and our collection of legal databases such as LexisNexis, Westlaw, HeinOnline, etc. Many treatises and articles that are not available in paper are available through these sources. Please note that we do not obtain ILL materials for law firms, so please submit only requests that are related to your teaching.

Identifying Bibliographic Information

Once you have confirmed that items are not available locally, use WorldCat, a database containing records of library worldwide, to obtain full bibliographic information, which you will need to submit an interlibrary loan request.

Requesting Interlibrary Loans

You may make an ILL request using one of these methods:

  • Call or e-mail Carolyn Hood (313-3755) with the full bibliographic information, or
  • Complete an ILL form at the ILL Office, or
  • Make a direct request from WorldCat by clicking on the ILL icon and filling out the ILL form.

Requests are usually processed within one working day and it takes an average of one to two weeks for materials to arrive. You will be notified by e-mail and items will be held at the Circulation Desk. Material with due dates must be returned to the Circulation Desk. Contact Carolyn Hood to renew an ILL item.
