This article addresses priority conflicts between holders of security interests under the Uniform Commercial Code (UCC) and holders of Washington statutory liens for services or materials. The outcome of these conflicts depends upon the resolution of three issues: (1) Whether the security interest and statutory lien are enforceable against third par- ties; (2) whether the priority provisions of the UCC or non-UCC law con- trol the dispute; and (3) the application of the controlling law to the terms of the pertinent lien statute.
