In that substantial percentage of litigation which involves medical-legal concepts and requires the testimony of physicians, an important relationship arises between members of the legal and medical professions. It is through members of the medical profession that medical science is made available to the attorney and the legal system. Consequently, it is in the best interests of the client that this relationship be conducted efficiently. It is unfortunate that this relationship is sometimes carried on in an atmosphere of misunderstanding and distrust. For the most part, it is also unneces- sary. . . .
