Biographical Information
Richard L. Sayre is a principal in the law firm of Sayre and Sayre, P.S., Spokane, Washington. Sayre serves on the Spokane County Superior Court Guardianship Committee and is a member of the:
- American Bar Association
- Washington State Bar Association
- Spokane County Bar Association the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, where he served as 1995-1996 Washington State Chapter President
- Special Needs Alliance
- Spokane Estate Planning Council
He is a former Chair of the Washington State Bar Association’s Continuing Legal Education Committee and served from 1998 through September of 2004 on the Washington State Professional Guardian Certification Board, a position appointed by the Supreme Court of Washington. His practice emphasizes estate and disability planning and estate tax issues, governmental benefits law for disabled individuals, special needs trusts and Elder Law.
He has been certified as an Elder Law Attorney by the National Elder Law Foundation, and has been designated a "Super Lawyer" by the publication Washington Law and Politics for the years 2000 through 2007, based upon a peer rating survey which selected less than five percent of Washington lawyers for this distinction.
Prof. Sayre was selected 2005 Member of the Year by the Washington Chapter of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys. He was named as one of the Best Lawyers in Spokane by Spokane Magazine in 2005 and 2006. He is a frequent speaker on Elder Law and estate planning and taxation issues throughout the State of Washington.
