Deferred Immigration Action Workshop

October 27, 2012 @ 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm

| Free

In June of this year, President Obama signed a new policy into law that defers immigration action and provides an opportunity for work permits for undocumented youth. As many as 40,000 Washington State youth may qualify for deferred action under this policy, but they must apply for acceptance to the program.

On Saturday, October 27 at 1:00 p.m., Gonzaga Law’s Hispanic Law Caucus, in association with the Northwest Immigrant Rights Project and the American Immigration Lawyers Association will be hosting a free event to help families and individuals determine if they qualify, if they should apply, and to assist with the application process. The workshop is free and open to the public at Gonzaga University School of Law, 721 N. Cincinnati St.

Participants in the workshop will have a chance to meet with local attorneys free of charge. Participants are encouraged to fill out and bring US Citizenship and Immigration Services forms:

  • I-821D (Consideration of Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals);
  • I-765 (Application for Employment Authorization);
  • I-765WS, the worksheet for form I-765.

Participants are also encouraged to gather and bring copies documentation that they have been present in the United States since June 15, 2007, and are enrolled in or have completed high school or a GED. Documentation of any interactions the applicant may have had with the criminal justice system will also be required.

For more information about the workshop, copies of the forms, and information about required documentation, visit Northwest Immigrants Rights Project DREAMer resources page.
