Over the weekend of November 15th and 16th, Gonzaga University School of Law competed in the regional round of the Sixty-Fourth Annual National Moot Court Competition against the University of Washington, Seattle University, University of Montana, University of Idaho, and Lewis and Clark College. Gonzaga sent two teams, one composed of Katharine Brereton, Kevin Downs, and Tyler Whitney, and the other with members Samuel Dart, Katherine Faber, and Evan Klein.
Both teams went undefeated on their way to the semi-finals. Gonzaga was the only school to have two teams among the final four, one win away from qualifying for the national round of the competition. Unfortunately, both teams suffered close losses in the semi-finals at the hands of two other very talented teams.
The competition was the culmination of months of work on brief writing and practicing oral advocacy, including a practice round before Gonzaga’s own Justice Debra Stephens in the Washington Temple of Justice. All six competitors dedicated a great deal of time and effort to represent Gonzaga well.
