The results for the Summer 2013 Washington State Bar Exam have been released, and Gonzaga Law has again posted a passage rate well above the state average. 91% of the Washington Bar Exam takers with degrees from Gonzaga Law passed the exam. This was the first year Washington State administered the Uniform Bar Exam, so all test takers were considered first-time test takers.
“The pass rate for this year’s bar exam highlights the quality and success of our new, innovative curriculum,” said Sandra Simpson, Associate Dean of Academic Affairs at Gonzaga Law. “The fact that Gonzaga Law students had such a strong showing on this year’s bar exam exemplifies how hard-working, enthusiastic, and high achieving they are.”
The July 2013 Washington State Bar Exam had an average passage rate of 84.8%. There were 857 total candidates that took the exam, of which 113* total were Gonzaga Law graduates. Gonzaga Law graduates also took the bar exam in Idaho, Utah, and Oregon. Final exam passage rates will be posted on the Bar Exam Statistics page when they are available.
*The original version of this article cited 112 total candidates from Gonzaga Law and a 89.3% pass rate. On September 27, the Washington State Bar issued a correction, resulting in a pass for one additional candidate from Gonzaga Law.
