This November, Professor Brooks Holland begins his new three-year tenure as a member of the Society of American Law Teachers Board of Governors. SALT is a thirty-five year old organization dedicated to creating and maintaining a community of progressive and caring law professors.
A Commitment to Social Justice
“I am extremely honored and excited to serve on the Board of the Society of American Law Teachers” says Prof. Holland. “SALT is dedicated to advancing social justice through legal education, a value that brought me to Gonzaga in the first place. I am eager to represent Gonzaga’s commitment to this value by serving on the SALT Board and working to ensure that the law fairly and effectively serves our entire community.”
Finding Solutions In The Law
Individuals appointed to the SALT Board of Governors serve three-year terms. Holland will be installed to the board in January of 2014 in New York City. While on the Board, Holland will have an opportunity to help direct SALT and work on the goals of the organization. These goals include:
- Making the legal profession more inclusive and reflective of the rich diversity of this nation
- Enhancing the quality of legal education by promoting innovative scholarship and teaching methodologies and advancing social justice within the curriculum
- Extending the power of law to underserved individuals and communities
