Northwest Indian Bar Association
The stated purpose and goals of the Northwest Indian Bar Association (NIBA) are to represent and foster the education and welfare of Native attorneys, paralegals and tribal court personnel of the Pacific Northwest; to provide role models and mentors in the legal profession for Native people, particularly Native youth and law students; and to encourage and promote the active participation in NIBA of Native attorneys, paralegals and tribal court personnel throughout the Pacific Northwest.
The intent of NIBA is to use their collective education to protect and promote the sovereignty of Native communities; to teach Native youth by example, instruction and guidance and to encourage the pursuit of higher education in service to Native communities; and to bring respect, honor and pride to Native traditions and culture.
The purpose of the NIBA scholarship is to aid Native law students who are committed to advancing the goals and visions of Native communities and people through legal representation and advocacy.
