On Friday, April 27, the Gonzaga Student Bar Association announced that the first-ever recipient of the newly endowed SBA Scholarship is current 2L student Jessica Lewis. Lewis was chosen for her extensive involvement with on-campus and community events, organizations, and causes.
Giving Back Through Law School
“Law School is more than just the books that we read, the laws that we study, and the tests that we take… Gonzaga is unique and special because its halls and classrooms are filled with students who are passionate about making a difference, whether in their own community or in the world.” said Lewis in her scholarship essay. “I first realized that getting involved meant giving back and being part of a cause larger than myself.” Over the last two years, Lewis has been involved in the Gonzaga Public Interest Law Project, Mission: Possible, the Armed Forces Law Club and acted as the Student Bar Association 1L representative and secretary.
About the SBA Scholarship
The SBA Scholarship is a new scholarship established by the Gonzaga University Student Bar Association with reserve funds from SBA student dues. The endowed scholarship is a $1,000 award given to a student “who has been active on-campus. The goal is to honor a student who has brought something to the school outside of the classroom.”
