Tom Kingen (’74) was a prominent municipal law attorney who practiced his entire career in Spokane.
Tom was a partner with Preston Gates, Perkins Coie, and Roy Koegan and Dick Eymann. He served as in-house counsel for the City of Spokane, Spokane Transit Authority, City of Pullman, and the City of Airway Heights.
After graduating from Washington State University, Tom served two tours of duty in Vietnam with the United States Navy.
Before enrolling at Gonzaga Law, Tom retired as a Captain and followed that with many years of active reserve duty with Battalion 5, Reserve Cargo Handlers.
Tom met his loving wife Cheryl, also a GU Law grad (’74), during law school and together they had three children.
Tom was an avid outdoorsman.
The memorial bench, established by his family and friends after his death in July 2003, sits just northwest of the law school on the path overlooking the beautiful Spokane River.
