Planning Your Course of Study
Introduction
This Guide was written to assist you in course selection during law school - and to help you plan your academic program in accordance with your career goals and/or intellectual interests.
While planning your course of study, bear in mind that the “right” approach to selecting elective courses will vary according to your interests and career goals. You may wish to pursue a broad-based course of legal study, while others may choose to concentrate their course work primarily on particular areas of the law.
We urge you to consult the resources available to you at Gonzaga Law School, such as the Career Services office, your academic advisors, or other faculty members of your choice, when deciding what electives to take in addition to the required courses.
You may also seek advice from other reliable sources with knowledge of our course offerings, and/or members of the legal profession.
You should consider three basic criteria when choosing courses:
- Completing your required courses;
- Taking courses that will prepare you for the bar examination, and;
- Taking courses that will further your career goals or are otherwise of particular interest to you.
