Dean Earl Martin and Megan New

Originally from San Jose, California, New lived in Washington, D.C., prior to attending law school. She says the friendly students, faculty, and staff she met when she visited Gonzaga drew her to the school. Her second-year IP survey class hooked her on IP law, she says, and her interest was cemented by her participation in the Saul Lefkowitz Moot Court competition.

New says she looks forward to an exciting and challenging career in IP Law.

McNulty, a second-year law student, majored in Business Entrepreneurship while at the University of Notre Dame.

McNulty says Gonzaga and its Jesuit mission have proved to be a great fit. He says Gonzaga Law has helped him to develop his speaking, writing, and critical-thinking skills.

McNulty's background in business was a key factor driving him toward IP law. He enjoys working with numbers and applying business logic to the different areas of IP law.

This summer, McNulty will clerk for the firm of Holland and Hart in Boise, and says he hopes someday to teach IP or business law.

Mark Lorbiecki, Chair-Elect of the WSBA-IP Section, presented Gonzaga University Law School with the scholarship money this past February. The IP section of the WSBA focuses on patents, trademarks, copyrights, trade secrets, and related matters.
