Multidisciplinary Journal Indexes

  • Academic Search Premier - Covers nearly 4,600 scholarly publications, including more than 3,500 peer-reviewed journals. Some coverage back to 1975. 
  • IngentaConnect - Provides tables of contents for over 29,500 journals, and the full text of many journal articles. Document delivery of articles is available for a fee through Ingenta.
  • EBSCOHOST - Offers a variety of databases which range from general reference collections to specially-designed, subject-specific databases. 
  • JSTOR - Core scholarly journals in the arts, humanities, social sciences, general & biological sciences, ecology & botany, business, law, mathematics & statistics, language and music. Holdings are current up to 3-5 years ago, but are digitized from the first volume of many titles.
  • PROQUEST - Offers an interdisciplinary index of magazines, newspapers and scholarly journals, including summaries of articles from over 5,000 publications, with many in full text, full image format. 

Newspaper Databases

  • Alt-Press Watch - Alternative & independent press magazines, newspapers and journals. 
  • National Newspaper - Search the full collection of newspapers including The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, Los Angeles Times and the Christian Science Monitor.
  • Washington State Newsstand - Coverage of major Washington newspapers, including the daily newspapers from Seattle, Tacoma, Spokane and Vancouver, plus selected coverage of other regional sources. 
  • Columbia International Affairs Online (CIAO) - Comprehensive database for research in international affairs, CIAO includes full-text of books, journals and policy briefs, as well as case studies by experts, proceedings from conferences and papers from university research institutes, NGOs and foundation-funded research projects.

Business Sources

  • Business Source Premier - Provides access to nearly 3,800 scholarly business journals, including more than 1,100 peer-reviewed business publications. Coverage includes virtually all subject areas related to business. Full text (PDF) for more than 350 of the top scholarly journals dating back to 1922. 
  • EDGAR - Searchable database of SEC filings from the Securities and Exchange Commission. All companies, foreign and domestic, are required to file registration statements, periodic reports, and other forms electronically through EDGAR. Anyone can access and download this information for free.
  • Industry Norms & Key Business Ratios - Dun & Bradstreet database providing 14 key business ratios for over 800 lines of business with one or three year set of solvency, efficiency or profitability ratios. In addition, data can be exported into EXCEL for further analysis and the creation of charts and graphs.
  • Regional Business News - Comprehensive coverage for regional business publications. Incorporates coverage of 75 business journals, newspapers and newswires from all metropolitan and rural areas with the US. 

Other Subjects

  • National Criminal Justice Reference Services/Abstracts - Summaries of criminal justice journal articles, as well as a broad range of monographic materials such as books, reports & other documents. Many documents available in full-text or may be requested through InterLibrary Loan.
  • Military & Government Collection - Offers current news pertaining to all branches of the military & government through periodicals, academic journals and other content. Full text for nearly 400 journals & periodicals and indexing & abstracting for more than 500 titles.
  • ERIC (Educational Resources Information Center) - Contains more than 2,200 digests along with reference for additional information & citations and abstracts from over 980 educational & education-related journals. Articles with accession numbers beginning with ED are available on microfiche, lower level, Foley Center.
  • SocIndex with Full Text -Comprehensive article database with abstracts for more than 590 core Sociology journals dating back to 1895. Some full text. Covers all subdisciplines of sociology and includes indexing for books, conference papers and other sources.
  • Social Services Abstracts - Current abstracts & indexes of over 1,300 serials publications focused on social work, human services, social welfare, social policy, and community development.
