Renewing Materials
Most items may be renewed if still needed. You may renew your borrowed items yourself by following the " My Library Account" link in Chester and clicking on the check box to renew. You may also renew items in person at the Circulation Desk or by calling the Circulation Desk (ext. 5792). Items that have been recalled or have had holds placed on them cannot be renewed.
Checking Out and Renewing Material
Materials are checked out and returned at the Circulation Desk. When checking out an item at the Circulation Desk you may be asked to present your GU ID card to the Circulation assistant. To have the Circulation Desk staff check out an item and deliver it to your office, simply call the Circulation Desk (ext. 5792) or e-mail Cecelia McMullen. You may return borrowed items at the Circulation Desk or place them in interoffice mail to be routed to the library. You can also call the Circulation Desk to arrange for a library staff person to pick up materials from your office.
Most items may be renewed online. Click on "My Library Account" link in Chester and the check box to renew. You may also renew items in person or by calling the Circulation Desk. Items that have been recalled or have had holds placed onthem cannot be renewed.
Should you have any question regarding circulation procedures or policies, contact Cecelia McMullen (323-5792).
Checking Out and Renewing Laptops and Network Cards
At this time the library has one (1) laptop available for faculty checkout. To check out or reserve this laptop, contact the Circulation Desk in person or by phone (ext. 5792). The laptop may be recalled if requested by another faculty member. Before returning the laptop please save materials you have created onto a CD, USB, or to your network folder as files are routinely deleted when laptops are returned. The laptops may be renewed as long as no other faculty member has requested it. If you need specific programs loaded onto the laptop, contact Dalean Neiner (ext. 3795) no later than one business day in advance.
Fees for Late Returns and Lost or Damaged Items
Faculty members are not charged late fees. However, faculty members will be charged the replacement cost for lost or damaged items.
Recalls and Holds
If the item you need is checked out you may request that it be recalled by using Chester or visiting the Circulation Desk. Once a book is recalled, it must be returned to the library within three to 17 days. Alternatively, you or the Circulation staff may put a "hold" on an item so that you will be next in line to check the item out when it is returned. In either case, you will be notified by e-mail when it is available.
Missing Books
If an item cannot be found on the shelf or in the pre-shelving area and is not checked out, please notify the Circulation staff. A library staff member will search for the item and notify you by e-mail regarding the status of the item. If you need the material immediately, please ask the Reference staff to help you locate the information through other means.
