The mission of the Gonzaga University School of Law Library and Computing is to support the educational, instructional, and research needs of the law school and university communities. We also strive to provide the members of the bench and bar of the Inland Northwest with access to legal materials. We further recognize the general community's need for access to justice and endeavor to provide full access to the library's collection. We will meet these goals in the following manner:

Collection and Access

  • We provide a balanced, organized, and relevant collection.
  • We provide complete access to our collection, including Government Depository Materials.

Service

  • We meet users' needs in a timely and efficient manner.
  • We capitalize on opportunities to increase our knowledge and skills in order to assist users more efficiently.

Instructional Support

  • We provide opportunities to enhance users' legal research skills through in-class instruction, Computer Assisted Legal Research (CALR) training, online catalog training, and by developing pathfinders and similar resources.
  • We provide instructional media support to the law school community.

Technology

  • We provide library-supported software instruction for the law school community.
  • We provide a stable, reliable network which allows the law school community access to computing capabilities through computer labs, laptops, and remote access.

Professional Responsibilities

  • We uphold the library profession's values of confidentiality and privacy as presented in the Library Code of Ethics.
  • We value the diverse opinions of our users and will treat our patrons with dignity and respect.
  • We recognize each staff member's unique talents and skills and will show our fellow colleagues professional courtesy and respect.
