Biographical Information

Before entering law school, Professor Daggett earned a Ph.D. in Education, and conducted research on and worked with gifted students. During law school, she continued to use her background in education as a teaching assistant in several law school courses and as an adjunct faculty member in psychology at a local university. Prof. Daggett then entered private practice in Connecticut, representing school districts in labor and employment, constitutional, special education, tort, civil rights, and other education law matters. She also held an adjunct faculty position, teaching school law to educators.

Prof. Daggett has been a member of the Gonzaga faculty since 1991, specializing in education law. In addition to her full-time position at the law school, she has worked with Gonzaga's School of Education on school law issues. She writes and speaks frequently at conferences on education law issues, and has trained educators in the Northwest on school law issues. Prof. Daggett helped found Gonzaga's Street Law program, which sends law students out into elementary and secondary schools to conduct mock trials and discuss the law with students. She served on a Washington Supreme Court task force to develop a statewide plan for educating the public about law.

Prof. Daggett's background in education has allowed her to approach law teaching with a unique perspective. She coordinated a series of workshops for Gonzaga faculty on various teaching methods, and has made presentations at conferences and worked with faculty at several other law schools on teaching issues. She has received Gonzaga University's Burlington-Northern Great Teachers Award as the university-wide teacher of the year. In 1998, she was Distinguished Visiting Professor of Teaching Excellence at Franklin Pierce Law Center, where she worked with faculty on teaching and student evaluation issues.
