Gov. Chris Gregoire

Washington state’s 22nd governor earned her law degree in 1977 from Gonzaga School of Law and in 1995 was awarded an honorary Doctor of Law degree from the school. Gregoire is also the first woman to be elected Washington’s Attorney General, a position she held for three terms.

The Hon. Mary E. Fairhurst

Having earned her law degree magna cum laude from Gonzaga law school, Mary Fairhurst began her legal career in 1984, clerking for Chief Justice William H. Williams of the Washington State Supreme Court. In 2003, she returned to the court as a Justice in her own right. In the intervening years, Justice Fairhurst had served in the office of the state’s Attorney General’s Office.

Paul N. Luvera

Recognized by the National Law Journal, the American Lawyer, the Washington Journal, and Lawdragon magazine as one of the nation’s preeminent trial lawyers, Paul Luvera attended GU law at night during the ‘50s. Luvera is past president of the Inner Circle of Advocates, whose membership is limited to 100 top lawyers. With his wife Lita T. Barnett-Luvera, he operates Seattle’s Luvera Law Firm.

Frank Burgess

Frank Burgess, a 1966 graduate of the Gonzaga School of Law, now serves as Senior District Court Justice District Court Justice for the Western District of Washington. As an undergraduate at Gonzaga University, Burgess set basketball records that still stand. He is the Gonzaga career leader in points, field goals attempted, field goals made, free throws attempted, free throws made and scoring average.
