Historically, Spokane has served as the center of commerce, industry, education, and health care for a vast inland region. With 30 percent of their patients coming from out of town, our hospitals serve a population base that rivals that of Seattle.

Spokane is home to four full-service hospitals -- including two of the three largest in the state -- and three specialty hospitals.

• Sacred Heart Medical Center, a 623-bed facility, is a leader in heart and kidney transplant services, and is a training center for robotic heart surgery.
• The Sacred Heart Cancer and Research Center coordinates its efforts with national research groups to deliver the latest cancer therapies.
• Deaconess Hospital's cardiac care program is ranked first in the state.

Holy Family, Deaconess, Valley and Sacred Heart hospitals offer modern and convenient childbirth facilities. Deaconess and Sacred Heart host neonatal intensive care centers.
