What Do You Expect From a Law School?
There's more to learning the law than course work, research, and textbooks.
We'll take a practical approach to your legal education: We offer public service and clinical experiences, a study-abroad program with a focus on international law, and a nationally recognized writing program.

What First-year Students Can Expect
First-year students follow a carefully planned course of study, guided by mentors and advisors from the campus and community.
Curriculum:
Your first-year course work will provide you with the skills essential to the practice of law. You will learn to think critically, reason carefully, perform complex research, and follow the protocol of legal argument.
First-year classes include:
- Constitutional Law I
- Contracts
- Criminal Law
- Legal Research & Writing I & II
- Civil Procedure
- Property
- Torts
Early Start Summer Program:
If you're admitted for fall, you may participate in our Early Start Summer Program. It allows you to enroll in one five-credit summer course.
Faculty Advisors:
At Orientation, you will be assigned an academic advisor. This advisor is a faculty member, who can help you handle the logistics of law school, including career planning and other personal matters.
