GU Law Offers Three Areas of Concentration
Concentrations are the rough equivalent of majors at the undergraduate level. Unlike majors, though, concentrations are voluntary -- you are not required to complete one.
If you plan to pursue a concentration. you are expected during your sixth semester to submit a Concentration Declaration Form to the Registrar's Office.
Gonzaga Law offers concentrations in:
- Business Law
- Environmental/Natural Resources Law
- Public Interest Law
Successful completion of the requirements for a concentration will be noted on your transcript.
Business Law Concentration
The Business Law Concentration requires that you:
- complete 20 Business Law credits
- complete a directed research project on an issue of Business Law
- maintain at least a 3.0 in these courses:
- Agency & Partnership
- Bankruptcy
- Corporations
- Creditors' Rights
- Taxation of Individual Income
- obtain five credits from the following courses, selected from at least two of the four blocks: :
For this purpose all courses taken from these lists will be deemed taken for the concentration.

Environmental/Natural Resources Law Concentration
The Environmental/Natural Resources Law Concentration requires that you:
- complete at least 18 credits from the courses below (all courses taken from this list will be deemed taken for the concentration)
- maintain a GPA of at least 3.0 in said courses
- complete a directed research project on an issue of Environmental or Natural Resources Law
NOTE: Some courses may not be offered on a regular basis.

Public Interest Law Concentration
The Public Interest Law Concentration requires that you:
- complete these courses:
- Civil Rights
- Public Benefits Law
- Jurisprudence, or Justice & Society
- complete at least one other course from the list below
- after obtaining Rule 9 eligibility, complete:
- at least two consecutive semesters of at least four credits each at the Clinic,
or
- at least two consecutive semesters of at least three credits each at an approved externship program (for this purpose, a semester would include the summer after your second year, so that you could combine clinical experiences in that summer and the fall semester of the third year).
- complete a directed research project on an issue of Public Interest Law
- including the above, complete a minimum of 18 credits from:
- clinical courses
- approved externships
- and the courses listed below.
NOTE: Students must have an average grade point of at least 3.0 in the classroom and clinical courses taken for the concentration ( for this purpose, all courses taken from the list below will be deemed taken for the concentration).
