What Do Externs Do?
Learning the Law From the Inside
- Learn lawyering through hands-on training under the direction of sitting judges and practicing attorneys
- Work directly with a judge or attorney as a mentor
- Gain greater insight into the legal system
- Develop professional skills
- Create or expand your professional network
Course Requirements
- Successful completion of at least 60 hours of work per “field” credit enrolled. Externship field credits are graded on a pass/fail basis.
- Successful completion of a required, one-credit externship seminar course. The seminar course is graded on a letter grade basis.
- Successful completion of a reflective learning component, through regular submission of journals.
