After a brief introductory discussion of the history, common characteristics, and problems of international organizations in general, this two-credit seminar will focus on the United Nations and several of the principal treaty and Charter organizations of the UN family. Also examined will be international organizations created by other international legal instruments that address regional as well as global issues. Toward the end of the course, some lecture presentation will be offered on the creation and establishment of the International Criminal Court. Specific organizations under investigation will include those concerned with:
