Financial Aid

  • Students may apply for guaranteed student loans to cover the cost of tuition and fees, books and supplies, room and board, personal miscellaneous expenses, and transportation.
  • Lending arrangements must be made by the student borrower through the law school where the student is enrolled.
  • For students from law schools other than Gonzaga, their law school must have a signed consortium agreement with Gonzaga.
  • Gonzaga students holding merit or other tuition-based scholarships cannot apply those scholarships to the Florence Summer Law Program.
  • Because of payment deadlines, it is important that you secure your summer financial aid at the earliest possible time (early February for Gonzaga students). It may be necessary for students to make interim financial arrangements to meet payment deadlines.
  • Deadlines will not be extended.

Cancellation Policy

  • Gonzaga reserves the right to alter or cancel the Florence Summer Law Program.
  • Cancellation could occur if the program does not meet a minimum enrollment of 45 students by April 1 of the year applied for.
  • The program may be canceled if unforeseen international events occur that would substantially adversely affect program operations, or seriously compromise student safety.
  • If the program is canceled, students will be notified in writing of that decision as soon as possible.
  • In the unlikely event the program is canceled, all payments to Gonzaga made by students in connection with the program will be refunded.

Passport Requirements

Valid passports are required for travel to Italy and are the sole responsibility of the student. Be sure your passport still has at least 6 months before it expires, as many countries will not allow your entrance unless it does.

  • Students should contact the nearest State Department Passport Office or the U.S. Postal Service for further information.
  • Students who do not already have a valid passport should obtain one at the earliest possible date.

Insurance Coverage

Students accepted into the Florence Summer Law Program will be required to obtain an International Student Identity Card (ISIC card).

  • The application will be processed through Gonzaga University main campus.
  • The ISIC provides medical insurance coverage in accordance with the terms of its policy.
  • The ISIC also provides other benefits, including, but not limited to, reduced admissions charges at many museums and discounts at many cafes and stores in Europe.
  • To check out the full range of ISIC-holder benefits, please visit their Web site at www.isic.org.
  • It is highly advisable that students planning to operate a motor vehicle while they are in Italy and elsewhere in Europe during the duration of the program have a valid international driver's license, and liability and collision insurance coverage.
  • It is also highly advisable, but not required, that students insure their personal property against loss or theft.
  • Short-term international accident and health insurance may be obtained from a number of different providers including www.travelinsure.com; www.travelassistance.com; and www.globaltravelinsurance.com.

Course Materials

  • Course materials may be purchased in person, by mail, or online.
  • Required course materials will be available through the Gonzaga University Bookstore in the Spring of 2009.
  • Students are solely responsible for purchasing course materials prior to departing for Italy.
  • Bring your course materials with you!
  • Course materials will not be available for purchase in Florence.
