Housing

Students and faculty alike are responsible for making their own housing arrangements in Florence. The program maintains a list of the Web sites of rental agencies that have been used by faculty and students in past years.
Living in Florence
Florence was at the epicenter of the Italian Renaissance. The city is the home of incomparable art and architecture.
- The number of artists and writers who worked in Renaissance Florence is unparalleled in the history of Western culture: Dante, Machiavelli, Galileo, Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, Cimabue, Giotto, Donatello, Fra Angelico, Cellini, Brunelleschi, Raphael, Vasari, and Masaccio to name but a few.
- Classes are scheduled to allow students to enjoy the experience of living in Florence, a dynamic city with a unique intensity and vitality. In addition to the museums and architecture, the compact historic center presents a vibrant, urban street life with an eclectic mix of outdoor cafes, intimate restaurants, pubs, shops, and public markets.
- On three-day weekends, you'll have the opportunity to continue to explore Florence and the local environs of Tuscany, including historic Lucca, medieval Siena, the towers of San Gimignano, the five towns of Cinque Terre, the beaches of Livorno, and the Chianti wine country.
- Other Italian cities are a reasonable distance by train from Florence. These cities include Venice (3 hours), Milan (3 hours), Rome (1½ hours), and Naples/Sorrento/Pompeii (5 hours).
