Projects
Kalispel Commercial Code
The CLC and University Legal Assistance joined together to draft a commercial law code for the Kalispel Tribe. The project, modeled on Article 9 of the Uniform Commercial Code, was designed to help attract commercial investment and facilitate commercial development on tribal property. The Kalispel Tribe formally adopted the new law in 2008.
Upcoming Symposium
In cooperation with the Gonzaga Law Review and the American College of Commercial Finance Lawyers, the Center will be publishing a symposium on revised Article 9 of the Uniform Commercial Code in the Spring of 2011. To date, 15 well-known experts on secured transactions have expressed interest in writing for the symposium.
Curricular Offerings
As part of its ongoing mission to focus on the practice of law from a transactional perspective, the Center is developing curricular offerings for law students. These courses will be simulations that require students to apply knowledge that crosses the traditional segmentation of commercial and business law to solve realistic problems in a transactional setting.
