AAHE is a leading higher education organization in the United Stated devoted to teaching and learning. It "promotes the changes higher education must make to ensure its effectiveness in a complex, interconnected world. The association equips individuals and institutions committed to such changes with the knowledge they need to bring those changes about." AAHE sponsors conferences, publishes two periodicals (Change and AAHE Bulletin), and numerous monographs on teaching and learning in higher education. The Web site provides easy access to the AAHE's vast resources.
Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching

The Carnegie Academy for the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (CASTL) represents a major initiative of The Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching. Launched in 1998, the program builds on a conception of teaching as scholarly work proposed in the 1990 report, Scholarship Reconsidered, by former Carnegie Foundation President Ernest Boyer, and on the 1997 follow-up publication, Scholarship Assessed, by Charles Glassick, Mary Taylor Huber, and Gene Maeroff.

Derek Bok Center for Teaching and Learning, Harvard University
The Derek Bok Center was established in 1975 to improve the quality of teaching and learning in college. This site contains documents in a printer-friendly format dealing with issues such as students working in groups, race and gender in the classroom, and tips for increasing student participation.
Faculty Development Associates
This group of educational consultants offers help in designing workshops and mentor programs. The site itself has access to a wealth of information for educators in the "Online Resources" tab, which collects links to other sites concerning many important topics such as active learning, classroom assessment, critical thinking, discussion facilitation, large classes, learning students' names, and Socratic method.

National Teaching and Learning Forum
The National Teaching and Learning Forum is a newsletter published six times per year. It contains short articles about teaching and learning in higher education. This site contains access to full text of select articles from the current and past issues of the National Teaching and Learning Forum. It also contains information on how to subscribe to the text version of the Forum.
Society for Teaching and Learning in Higher Education
The Society for Teaching and Learning in Higher Education (STLHE) is a Canadian association of academics interested in the improvement of teaching and learning in higher education. The Society sponsors an annual conference, a series of workshops, an electronic bulletin board, the 3M Teaching Fellowships, and a bi-annual newsletter, Teaching and Learning in Higher Education. Of particular interest may be Ethical Principles in University Teaching, a set of basic ethical principles that define the professional responsibilities of university professors in their role as teachers. The nine Ethical Principles are set out and described in approximately four pages.

The Teaching Tips Index section of the site contains hundreds of ideas about teaching and learning in higher education. Topics addressed include course design, communication, assessment, teaching techniques, the first day, effective questioning, and principles of how people learn and develop.
The University of Chicago Center for Teaching and Learning
This site bills itself as "A Collection of Readings and Practical Advice for Beginning Teachers." The readings are insightful, fun, and inspiring for new and experienced teachers alike. They deal with basic issues such as preparing for class and the course syllabus. Experienced teachers write about discussion and lecture methods. A master teacher offers "Nine and a Half Commandments of Good Teaching."

Video Streaming: A Guide for Educational Development
This site features a guide teachers can download and a virtual workshop they can attend.
