Kalispel Commercial Code

The CLC and University Legal Assistance have joined together to draft a commercial law code for the Kalispel Tribe. The project will begin with a secured transactions law, modeled on Article 9 of the Uniform Commercial Code and the Model Tribal Secured Transactions Law. The Tribe hopes that such a law will help attract commercial investment and facilitate commercial development among its members and on tribal property.
Upcoming symposium
In cooperation with the Gonzaga Law Review, the Center will be publishing a symposium on Intellectual Property in Bankruptcy in the Fall of 2008. Professor Sheri Engelken is the editor of the symposium.
Curricular offerings
As part of its ongoing mission to focus on the practice of law from a transactional perspective, the Center will be developing curricular offerings for law students. These courses will be simulations that require students to apply knowledge that crosses the traditional segmentation of commercial and business law to solve realistic problems in a transactional setting.
